Survivors of domestic and sexual violence served by The Julian Center shop at Thrifty Threads free of charge, choosing clothing, furniture, shoes and children's toys as they start over. The Julian Center owns and operates the store and donation center. Items clients don't need are sold to the public, and the proceeds help fund the organization's programs for victims. The store partners with the National Council of Jewish Women.
Accepted donations include men's, women's and children's clothing, shoes, jewelry, books, media, home décor, linens, housewares, small appliances, working lamps and furniture in good shape. Free furniture pickup can be booked at least two weeks ahead, with pieces taken apart and left on a main floor, garage or porch. The Indianapolis shop is open six days a week and closed Sundays.
