A church resale shop of The Church of Bethesda By The Sea, The Church Mouse provides most of the funding for the parish's outreach to people in need. Open since the 1970s, it fills more than 4,500 square feet with designer clothing, handbags and accessories alongside furniture, crystal, china and books. Volunteers staff most shifts, and the store is closed Sundays.
Donated clothing, shoes, electronics, kitchenware, costume jewelry and furniture arrive at a donor door on the south side of the building, where helpers unload cars and donors receive an IRS donation document by mail. Pickups and delivery can be arranged, and the shop takes whole-home and condo donations, itemizing and packing the contents. An annual End of Season Sale runs each May. White scalloped awnings shade the windows of the pale blue building.
