Since opening in 1986, The Toggery has run as a consignment and resale shop in Indianapolis, offering clothing and accessories for both women and men, along with shoes, costume jewelry and small home goods. New clothing goes out on the floor seven days a week, and the store went bagless in 2021 as part of its aim to reuse, reduce and recycle, so shoppers bring their own bags or buy a reusable tote.
Consignors bring in clean, current-style clothing and accessories from upscale brands, with clothing on hangers, and wait in the store while items are assessed. Consigning takes place Tuesday through Friday and on the first Saturday of each month. The doors stay open into the evening most days, and racks of clothing line the walkway beneath the black sign out front.
