Donations of toys, clothing, household goods, home decor, linens and small furniture such as tables, occasional chairs and china cabinets are welcome at Community Thrift, and every sale funds school programs for students of Community Christian School. The shop sits on the school's campus at Growing Branches for Christ Ministries in Connersville, Indiana, and is open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday.
The store also serves as a retail training program. Students plan, market and display the donated merchandise and earn school-to-work credit for that work. In-store internships count toward vocational credit and give students job experience to put on a resume. Free items go to community members in need. The school behind the store opened in August 2008.
