Savers in Albuquerque takes donations of clothing and household goods on behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico and pays that nonprofit for what people drop off. TVI, Inc., a for-profit company, runs the store, and shopping there does not benefit any nonprofit. The racks and shelves hold clothing for the whole family, plus dinnerware, accessories, books, housewares and electronics.
The donation center also takes backpacks and purses, bed and bath items, shoes, sporting goods, media, games, toys, small appliances and small furniture. Donors get a discount on their next purchase. Every Tuesday is Senior Tuesday for shoppers 55 and older, and Super Savers Club members get their own sales. The store is open seven days a week and stays open into the evening, and its big raspberry-red sign sits on a cream facade.
