Each year, Valpo Vintage visits more than 1,000 estates and brings what it finds back to one shop in Valparaiso, Indiana. The stock comes from estates in the Chicagoland area, often from owners who collected for decades. The store does not buy inventory online, and it does not sell pieces whose authenticity or history it cannot verify.
The selection covers antiques, military relics, sports memorabilia, vintage toys, artwork, furniture, home decor and kitchenware. Music is a big part of it too, with instruments, collectibles and vinyl records, and there is also vintage clothing. An old wooden hand truck and a small yellow stool sit out front of the brick building, beneath the shop windows. The store is open five days a week.
