In Arcadia, Indiana, Angels' Attic is run by Arcadia Christian Church as a ministry that pairs a food pantry with donated household goods. Food clients pick from a variety of foods for their families and get a dairy bag plus whatever extras were shared that week. Hamilton Heights district residents may shop once a month, and referred clients come as often as their agency recommends.
It opens only on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and volunteers gather beforehand to prepare and pray. Clothing, linens, dishes, cookware, working small appliances and home décor are welcome during open hours or Wednesday sorting hours. Mattresses, large furniture, tube televisions and large appliances are not accepted. A heart-shaped doormat lies before the dark plum front door.
