The West Washington ReStore is run by Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity as a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center, and its sales fund affordable housing. Its stock combines donated and new goods: appliances, furniture, cabinets, windows and doors, tubs, toilets and sinks, flooring, lighting, tools and hardware, lumber and pavers, and recycled latex paint. A green and blue ReStore sign runs across the long gray metal building, with separate shop and donate entrances at one end.
Donated home goods and construction materials can be dropped off during business hours, which run five days a week and into the evening. Free pickups are scheduled for a set time on any day except Sunday, once a coordinator has screened the items. Businesses can also arrange commercial donations of almost any size.
