Run entirely by volunteers as a ministry of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish, Mother Teresa Treasures sells new and secondhand clothing, household goods, furniture and toys four days a week. Its stock comes from donations, and its sales help St. Vincent de Paul, Goodwill, United Caring Shelters, the Humane Society, House of Bread and Peace and other groups. Donated household necessities labeled "Fresh Start" stay off the sales floor and go free to people setting up a new home through social services.
The shop first opened in November 2000. In 2009 it moved into a larger parish building, where it takes up two-thirds of the space. Its glass double doors sit under a peaked gable in a red brick front, with a row of soda machines alongside.
