A nonprofit community thrift store in Silver City, Single Socks exists mainly to fund local organizations working to end hunger and food insecurity. All of the store's operating surplus goes to the community's anti-hunger groups, so every purchase helps support that work.
The shop runs as a higher-end thrift store that sells quality secondhand goods, and it welcomes donated goods from the public. Volunteers and paid employees staff it together, and the organization also supports community causes, events and other local groups. The store is open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday. Its name is painted in bold blue and red letters under a multicolored stripe, and painted planter boxes in bright colors sit on either side of the front door.
