St. Peter's Thrift Shop dates to 1967, when the Women of St. Peter's started it as a ministry to serve those in need. Run by St. Peter's Episcopal Church, the shop supports the church's ministries and the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego, and part of church revenue goes to local and global outreach. Each month, all money from a Giving Jar goes to one featured outreach partner.
Donations include clothing, shoes, accessories, jewelry, sporting goods, kitchen and bath items, home decor, books and small accent furniture. Non-perishable food is accepted too and passed on to a local food pantry, and donors get a tax receipt when they drop off during business hours. The shop is open six days a week and closed Sundays. A black sign with white lettering hangs above its wood-framed doors.
