Donations are taken at the back of the building whenever the Safe Haven thrift store in Las Cruces is open, which is five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday. Nothing is accepted while the shop is closed. The store also sells through an eBay shop, and purchases there support the same mission as sales in person. Green and orange stripes run along the base of its front windows, below a red neon open sign.
Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary runs the store. It is a no-kill 501(c)(3) nonprofit adoption center for cats and dogs and has served abandoned pets in Las Cruces for more than 30 years. The organization gets no government funding and earns or raises its entire operating budget. Through its sanctuary and outreach work, it promotes spaying and neutering to reduce pet overpopulation.
