Run by Faith Mission of Michiana in Elkhart, Indiana, this thrift store raises money for the mission's programs and supplies clothing and household goods to people experiencing homelessness. It also gives men and women in the mission's resident recovery programs real work experience. Donations of furniture, appliances, clothing, books, housewares and bric-a-brac are accepted, and pickups can be arranged by phone.
Long rows of white shelving hold dishes, vases, teapots and kitchenware, and racks of clothing fill the back of the floor. Weekly promotions run midweek: color-tag discounts on Tuesdays, a stuff-a-bag deal on Wednesdays and a wheel of savings on Thursdays with a qualifying purchase. The store is open six days a week, with shorter Monday hours during road construction nearby, and closed on Sundays.
