Rancho Coastal Humane Society runs this San Diego thrift shop. The society is a homegrown, private 501(c)(3) nonprofit devoted to the care of animals and the people who love them. Each year it rescues, shelters and adopts out more than a thousand companion animals. It depends on its donors and hundreds of volunteers, and the shop's doors are open seven days a week.
The shop has a teal storefront with a sign showing a blue dog and cat, and chairs and racks of clothing often sit out front. The humane society also runs education programs for children and teens, a pet food bank, pet-assisted therapy and programs for seniors. Its Animal Safehouse Program helps pet owners escaping abuse so they don't have to leave their beloved pets behind.
