San Francisco has been home to Community Thrift since 1982. The nonprofit retail organization raises money for more than 200 Bay Area charities by selling donated merchandise and passing the proceeds to its charity partners. Its stock is an eclectic mix of vintage and new goods, including clothing, books, art and furniture in a range of styles and eras.
Donations are tax-deductible, and each donor chooses which partner nonprofit will benefit when their items sell. Pickups can also be scheduled. The store is open seven days a week, with shopping hours running into the evening and donations accepted during a shorter window. Its single-story building is painted in bold shades of pink and magenta, with a tall arched entrance at the center of the front.
