Open seven days a week, the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store in Long Beach sells secondhand goods, and every purchase helps fund programs that serve neighbors in need. Donations of goods are accepted, with free pickups available, and vehicles can be donated as well. A tall white sign on blue posts stands above the low, blue-trimmed building.
The store is run by the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul of Los Angeles, a Catholic volunteer organization that serves the poor and homeless of any religion at no cost. Its volunteers visit people at home to provide food, clothing, furniture, appliances and rental assistance. The Society also operates food pantries, soup kitchens, the Cardinal Manning Center for men on Skid Row, and Circle V Ranch Camp.
