Sales at the Denkai Thrift and Bargain Store support Denkai Animal Sanctuary, a nonprofit animal rescue that started in 2004 as a grassroots organization. Its mission centers on helping domestic animals in crisis. The sanctuary has given refuge and medical care to more than 34,000 animals, including neglected horses, abandoned farm animals and surrendered pets.
Besides the thrift store, the organization runs a veterinary clinic with affordable care and low-cost mobile clinics. It also has pet adoption and foster programs, a pet food bank and an equine hay bank. Its retail side sells pet supplies and clothing as well as thrift goods. The Farmington shop is open six days a week and closed on Sundays.
